Black Lionesses Roar at The Golden Globes 2017!

Welcome back after that December break everyone!

Not so long ago the 74th Annual Golden Globes were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where a few of the industries “it” stars scooped up some awards for their amazing work in 2016.

It’s worth mentioning that a few of our brothers took home the coveted awards as well, namely Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) who took home Best Supporting Actor and Donald Glover (Atlanta) was recognized as the Best Actor in a TV Comedy.

Our big Lioness winners for the night included Tracee Ellis Ross and Viola Davis, see below. *starts slow clap*

Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy- Black-Ish
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture- Fences

Also, the upcoming movie Moonlight, starring heavyweights Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, took home the Best Motion Picture –Drama award.

Just as a side note, I’m personally looking forward to seeing the upcoming movie about NASA’s black female astronauts titled Hidden Figures. These three black female mathematicians, played by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, working at the NASA during the days of the civil rights movement, had to fight to get ahead as they still had to work under their white counterparts (even when they’re just as qualified) and had to sit in marked, segregated lunch tables, among other things.

I can’t wait to share these sort of movies with my nieces when they’re old enough, the revolution will be televised! Anyway, here are a few snaps of the wonderful Lionesses who roared on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. Enjoy!
