Trio of face serums

Neutriherbs Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol Trio Face serums review

I decided to give Neutriherbs trio face serum’s (Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol) a try after I had watched a video on Korean skincare and how to get ‘glass skin’. Sticking to my goals this year has been tough, but this one I wasn’t about to slack on. In Korean skincare, serums featured heavily as a way to get the maximum concentration of product to target a specific skin issue. I had acne growing up and still suffer from hormonal acne from time to time, which has left me with enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

We all know there’s no quick fix or overnight miracle cure for good skin, but having a good, consistent routine with good quality products is definitely a great start. Since I was new to serums, I decided to make things easy on myself and buy all 3 serums to target all my skin concerns. Here’s my review of the Neutriherbs trio face serums, consisting of Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol serums.

What do face serums do?

First things first, what do serums do and why should you add them into your daytime or nighttime routine? Is it worth it to get the Neutriherbs trio face serums all together or one by one? Someone said serums are like the main course to a 3 -course meal. Cleansing would be the starter and your moisturiser is the dessert, leaving serums right in the middle of your routine.

Those few concentrated drops are super-efficient at targeting specific skincare concerns. Serums are made of very small molecules, which makes them easily absorb and penetrate deeply into the skin due to their potency and consistency. In my mind, this makes them great for oily skin such as mine, as the weightless feel doesn’t clog the pores or leave greasy finish or sticky residue. Depending on your skin concerns, you can get all 3 or just the one you need.

Vitamin C serum

Vitamin C plus Hyaluronic Acid serum

The Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a combination of high-quality Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, which generates a soothing antioxidant effect when applied to the skin. These active ingredients help to fade sun spots, reduce discolouration, as well as refine skin texture.

Vitamin C replenishes the skin with important proteins that are required to maintain the appearance of firm skin. Besides anti-ageing properties, the serum also protects the skin from sun damage caused by prolonged exposure to harmful UV rays.

Hyaluronic Acid serum

The Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C Serum is a combination of high-quality Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid, which generates a soothing antioxidant effect when applied to the skin. These active ingredients and high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid, helps plump and hydrate the skin while it diminishes surface lines and wrinkles.

Hyaluronic Acid is known as the best Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) in the world, as it aids in collagen production, and gives the skin a softer and more supple appearance.  It naturally lifts and firms sagging skin and assists in balancing moisture levels in the skin.

Retinol serum

Retinol plus Vitamin E serum

It improves the texture and tone of your skin for a smoother, softer, and more radiant look. This serum also incorporates beta-carotene and bioflavonoids to condition skin and prevent skin ageing. It also unclogs and shrinks pores to reduce their large appearance, while also preventing future breakouts and minimising the appearance of fine lines. By stimulating collagen production, it leaves your skin feeling firmer, softer, smoother and more radiant with an even complexion.

How to use face serums in your skincare daytime or nighttime routine

  1. Wash face and pat skin dry
  2. Apply toner before serum (optional)
  3. Apply a thin layer of the serum over the desired area using your fingers, pat (don’t rub) into the skin (and neck) and allow to dry. Do not wash off.
  4. After serum has dried, apply moisturiser to the skin.

Skincare tips and tricks

I started seeing a difference in two weeks, although the road is long.
  1. Always apply sunscreen, even on cloudy or rainy days or when you’re indoors all day, especially when using retinol and VItamin C.
  2. Use the Hyaluronic and Vitamin C Serums in the morning and Retinol Serum in the evening, both after cleansing and before your moisturiser.
  3. Apply formulas with a thinner consistency first so they have a chance to absorb into skin before applying thicker products.
  4. Always test a new product on a small portion of your skin first to look out for allergies or irritation.
  5. Never touch the dropper directly onto your face (as seen on so many influencers videos). You’ll breed bacteria, which you definitely don’t want.

Optional extra’s

You can also use a jade roller to help your serum sink in a lot faster and save product (due to wastage on the hands). Jade rollers increase circulation, reduce inflammation and swelling, improve elasticity, improve lymphatic drainage, relieve tension and leave your skin glowing and dewy. I sometimes leave mine in the fridge so its nice and chilled by the time I use it, reducing the size of my pores and locking in all that moisture from my products.

What’s the verdict?

I really enjoyed these Neutriherbs face trio serums, but I’ll admit the Vitamin C was my favourite. It just soaks into the skin so easily, felt lightweight and resulted in a visibly brighter glow in just 2 weeks. They’re also easy on the pocket and lasted me over 3 months with (almost) everyday use. I still have my retinol as being consistent when it comes to my nighttime routine has been a bit of a problem. I’m doing better now that I’ve scheduled reminders on my phone to do it straight after cooking up a storm and getting all that steam on my face. (Yes it had to get to that lol). The things we have to do for good skin hey! Overall, I’d say it was a great purchase.

You can purchase them from their website at Neutriherbs, or on Takealot and various other online stores. Happy shopping and always remember your sunscreen!

Very informative, thank you! I’ve always wondered about the best ways to apply serum, little did I know there’s a little tool out here to assist. Will give them a try most definitely. Pigmentation is my biggest struggle 😏
